Trekathons are a new 26 mile one day event where people can walk, jog or run along one of five beautiful routes. It is totally non-competitive so people can go at their own pace and just enjoy their surroundings.

There are five fantastic trekathons to choose from. Each one takes in a different area of the UK and should take about between 8-9 hours for fit and strong walkers. These trekathons are ideal for individuals, friends and colleagues alike.


The South Downs Trekathon

This takes place in East Sussex on Saturday 18th May 2013 and Saturday 17th May 2014. We trek in Britain's newest National Park from Lewes along the South Downs to the Seven Sisters series of hilly cliffs, finishing at Beachy Head. The biggest hills come in the first half of the day and you will be able to enjoy outstanding vews across the Downs and the English Channel.

Trekking next to Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall Trekathon

This takes place in Northumberland on Saturday 22nd June 2013 and Saturday 21st June 2014. Starting at the Brocolitia Roman Fort, we trek alongside the Wall, admiring the skill of the Roman engineers who built this famous landmark. There are some steep up and down sections which should not be underestimated! The trek finishes at the stunningly tranquil Lanercost Priory.

Trekking through the countryside

Avebury to Stonehenge Trekathon

This takes place in Wiltshire on Saturday 29th June 2013 and Saturday 28th June 2014. The magnificent prehistoric stone circles of Avebury and Stonehenge need little introduction. We start in atmospheric Avebury, where we can get up close to the ancient stones before heading via the famous ancient landmark of Silbury Hill to Stonehenge.

Spire 2 Spire Trekathon

This takes place in Hampshire and Wiltshire on Saturday 7th September 2013 and Saturday 6th September 2014. This trekathon takes us from Winchester's historic Cathedral to the magnificent 13th Century Salisbury Cathedral. We pass through picturesque English countryside along the ancient Clarendon Way heading west through farmland, ancient woodland, chalk valleys and quiet villages.

Sights from the London Stadia Trekathon

London Stadia Trekathon

This takes place in central London on Saturday 31st August 2013 and Saturday 30th August 2014. Starting in the Olympic Park in East Stratford this trekathon takes us through both the bustling streets of the capital and through tranquil parks of the city, finally following the river to the finishing point, the North Greenwich Arena.

What do I need to do?

All you need to do is pay a £59 registration fee to Discover Adventure and commit to fundraising a minimum of £120 for Leonard Cheshire Disability.
